A number of experimental applications of the Hololens 1 for crime scene investigators have been developed in the period 2019-2021. This page shows a number of movies that have been recorded with the camera in the Hololens. So you can experience the demonstrations of these applications through the eyes of the investigator.

Many methods and techniques have been developed for a spatial registration and documentation of a crime scene. These registrations can be used for presentation of the crime scene as 3-dimensional graphical models, and as a tool for presenting and discussing the findings of the crime scene investigation. This page shows a way to present a scene in a web browser. Loading takes a few minutes. Try to find all interactible objects.

Since the project CSI the Hague, crime scene recording, documentation and presentation has always been a major topic for me. At this moment I am experimenting with photogrammetry and rendering in Gaussian spats. I hope to do more work with 360-degrees video in the near future.

A Legos blockchain: A movie that shows a simulation of bitcoin processing with Legos. Blockchains are interesting because they could be helpfull in keeping track of the chain of custody of evidence, results from investigation, reports and other records in unsupervised or chaotic conditions.

My first attempt to find out what could be done with 360 degrees video recordings. For this study I have made a recording in a large space in the main building of the Leiden University of Applied Sciences. The video can also be watched in VR-glasses by opening this page in a webbrowser that runs in the glasses. The resolution of the video frames has been reduced by 50% in order to avoid problems with the frame rate on on slow internet connections. I am still working on other or better ways to interact with the video and the maps.

I have been testing ideas for logic reasoning in CSI with SWI-Prolog since 2012. A few years ago , I discovered the possibilities of speech recognition, translation and speech synthesis with Azure cloud services. For testing the combination, I developed a few applications for mobile use in the first place. This work seems to be outdated now, with the rising of AI-possibilities. The speech-functions are not working at this momnt. The application "rijmwoorden" is not working anymore , because the Prolog-web-scraper can not handle the new website for "rijmwoorden".
